Air-conditioning specialist Carrier Corporation uses Setrix technology for internet-based monitoring and control of its products.
Carrier Corporation, the worldwide market leader in air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems, deploys Setrix AG's technology to connect its appliances to the internet. The MyAppliance.com service, announced at the beginning of this year by Carrier and IBM, can be used to monitor and control air conditioning systems on the internet with a PC or a WAP-capable mobile phone.
Setrix S-3720 systems are used as remote monitoring components in Carrier's air conditioning systems. Carrier plans to introduce the new internet service across Europe for several hundred business and private customers with its new Night-and-Day Console device. The MyAppliance.com program may be extended to the whole of Europe and North America.
Setrix S-3720 gateway combines a GSM/GPRS communications module from Siemens with a Linux-based embedded computer developed by Setrix, all in a compact device with easy installation, reliable operation and optimized operating costs. Setrix S-3720 acts as a gatekeeper which communicates with Carrier HVAC air conditioning systems and protects private information from unauthorized access.
Setrix products enable the following MyAppliance functions: remote monitoring, control, diagnostics and prognostics. New functions can be added to Setrix devices installed in the field by remote downloads.

“Machine-to-machine communication will make our life easier, cuts operating costs and optimizes the business as well as the most valuable resource that we have æ time.
